The start of the single-handed transatlantic yacht race from Plymouth: 35 yachts set out from Plymouth yesterday on the 3,000-Mile, single-handed race across the Atlantic to Newport, Rhode Island. The race started in almost flat calm and pouring rain. Photo shows a general view of some of the yachts as they sail out from Plymouth soon after the start of the race
