Railway Strike in France: The great French railway walk-out virtually spread into a general strike last-night. And as it began to paralyses the nation from the channel coast to the Riviera thousands more tourists were stranded; the British Embassy in Paris was forced to organize an emergency get-home service in Army buses; and Whitehall agreed to release extra France for spent-out holidaymakers to buy food and shelter. Hardly a main -line train ran in France all day. Hardly a bus or 24-hour strike, bringing the city to a standstill has been called by the men who operate them. Picture Shows: Boulogne, the Maritime Station- these tourists had arrived in France.Their wonderful holiday abroad had started. But Boulogno wasn't their final destination and apparently thee were no trains to take them on. They sat with their luggage in the station. Some Stretched themselves out on the ground.
