Shot Policemen - man in court.: Strict security measures were taken by Scotland Yard today in moving John Edward Witney from Shepherd's Bush Police H.Q. to West London court, where he faces charges of murdering three policemen. A strong guard was kept on Witney, aged 36, unemployed, of Farnhead Head, Paddington. Extra police were on duty to control crowds outside the police station at Shepherd's Bush and at the court in West Kennington. After being at Shepherd's Bush police station for 72 hours. Witney was formally accused of murdering, with others, Det. Sgt. Christopher Tippett Head, Det. Constable David Stanley Bertram Wombwell and PO. Geoffrey Fox. Photo shows the scene outside the court today, showing Mrs. V. O'Connell (on left, collecting signatures for the return of capital punishment.
