Security Council adopts resolution on Middle East. United Nations, New York. 22 November 1967 - The Security Council today unanimously adopted a resolution affirming that the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East should include the application of the following principles: (1) Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict; and (2) Termination of all claims or states of belligerency and respect for an acknowledgment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every state in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force. The resolution (S/8247) had been submitted by the United Kingdom. Seen here are members of the Security Council as they voted unanimously today for adoption of resolution S/8247 which concerned the bringing about a just and lasting settlement of the Middle East conflict. The resolution was submitted by the United Kingdom.
