1971 Press Photo Kestrels Return To London

Hawks Return To London: A Kestrel flying over the City yesterday-one of a number which are re-establishing themselves in London. The picture was taken from the 30-storey Commercial Union building which has been cleared of hundreds of pigeons by the kestrel and its mates. As they return to metropolitan life, the kestrels appear to be choosy about nesting sites. One pair lives at the B.B.C. in Portland Place, another at the House of Commons and a third at the Savoy Hotel Strand.
