"Car Killer" To Solve Traffic Problem: Referred to as a "car killer", this new electric vehicle is designed to cut down the use of cars in city traffic. The Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) carried eight seated and seven standing passengers, and is controlled by a computer system. The U.S. Congress has approved $21-million for development of the rubber-tyred vehicle which it is hoped will revolutionise America's transport system. Initially, 100 of these 30mph vehicles are to be used to carry passengers around West Virginia University - the country's proving ground for PRT. Photo shows (Upper): Exterior of the revolutionary PRT. (Lower): Interior of the new vehicle.
