World's First Plastics Ship will be British: A British breakthrough in developing a form of plastics structures suitable for the building of ships is disclosed by Bristol Thorneycroft Ltd. A full scale test section of a 600 ton ship has been built under Navy contract as the necessary precursor to building a complete plastics ship. Photo shows Completed test section comprising hull, bulkheads, decks and bearers all in plastics awaiting removal from mould tool.
