Worldâs most expensive book arrives â The worldâs heaviest and most expensive book, known as the âœApocalypse❠arrived at Heathrow Airport from Paris today. Weighing 460 lbs. and valued in excess of £425,000, the Apocalypse is a unique book conceived and realized by the French publisher Joseph Foret, who devoted three years of his life to the vast work. The Book is to be exhibited at the National Book League, as part of the National Book Week, from November 4-14. The Apocalypse consists of the text of Saint Joan, illustrated with original paintings by seven of the greatest painters of our time: Salvador Dali, Bernard Buffet, Leonor Fini, Foujita, Mathjeu, Tremois, Zadkine. The bronze cover, enriched with gold and precious stones is the creation of Salvador Dali. Seven great writers contributed their thoughts and comments on the end of the world to the book: Jean Cocteau, Jean Rostand, Daniel Rops, Jena Guiton, Ernest Junger, Jean Giono, E.C. Cicran.
