She helps those who are fighting influenza: Miss Kitty Williams smiles as she is asked how she feels after her injection with a new anti flu vaccine.
Industry helps to fight the Flu: Factory workers cooperate in large scale test of new vaccines: 15,000 volunteers are now taking part in 'Influenza Trials' organized in factories all over the country by the Medical Research Council and the Ministry of Health. A proportion of the 'guinea pigs' are from hospitals and universities. Two vaccines are being used alongside each other one developed from trails last winter, and the other similar to that available for several years. Comparative records of the two vaccines will be kept by factory medical officers for a period of three months. Industry rates very highly all attempts to overcome the losses it always has with bouts of influenza. If a positive vaccine could be produced, it would be worth millions of pounds in saved time and increased production. This picture, one of an exclusive series, shows the vaccine being tried at a well known form of biscuits manufacturers.
