Trackman Max Bittner went 1000000 kilometers in 18 years. Three pairs of shoes a year that is the average use of Max Bittner (48) (Max Bittner, pictured).Two and a half Times around the globe, so far the trackman of the German Bundesbahn went till now. At that tie he works on the 34 kilometers long stage between the stations Emskirchen and Helmitzheim - on the route Nuremberg-Wearzbrug/ West- Germany. How often he went this way, he couldn't remember true. "18 years ago I came to his district", declares the friendly railway official. "During a month I walk 500 kilometers, daily a stage of 18 or 16 kilometers"! Equipped with a bugle, a detonators (to warn the engine-driver before eventual barriers) and a giant sp~nner , the reliable official controls summer and winter and all days the overhead lead and the good fit of screws which connect rails and sleepers. That is Max Bittner is very proud of: During his length of service no accident had happened, the safety was always perfect!
