R.S.P.C.A First Women Patrol Officers. With the appointment of the first /woman Patrol Officer, whose duties correspondent with those of an R.S.P.C.A Inspector, the Society breaks a tradition dating back to 1824, when the Society, on that time the work of investigating and suppressing animal cruelty has been the duty of men. Today at the R.S.P.C.A Headquarters in Jermyn Street, Miss Ninette Gold was congratulated on her appointment as first woman R.S.P.C.A Patrol Officer. A second Woman Patrol Officer appointed by the Society, is 19 year old Pat Jones, who was born in Canada. Keystone photo shows: Pat Jones, left, and Ninette Gold, wearing their uniform this morning.
