Description
Explosion At Hitler's Blockhouse In Paris: This was the scene after an explosion at the blockhouse built by the Germans in the centre of Paris to house their occupation headquarters during the war. Dynamite stored in the building, exploded. The building, just off the Champs Elysees, was being pulled down. The explosions came as dynamite, stored for the demolition work, was caught in the flames. Blazing remains of straw bales, set up to contain demolition blasts, started fires in nearby buildings. Intense heat caused scaffolding to collapse and fall on parked cars.

Photo measures 7.25 x 9.5 inches.

Photo is dated 11-11-1971.
