Lesson in War at a Motherâs Knee. A mother nurses her baby in a rocking chair and by the side of this lovely piece of sculpture a cadet studies his notes on war strategy. Mother and child symbolize the peace, the young soldier is training himself to guard. Setting for this picture with a moral is historic Eaton Hall, Chester, the âœSandhurst of the Northâ, and the cadet is 19 year old Philip Jones, of Caergwrie, Flintshire, son of a police sergeant.
