Paul Ngei â the Kamba Leader â Quits Kanu. Paul Ngei â the Kamba Leader â announced during the week end that he is to quit Kanu â and announced the formation of a new political party for the Kamba people. Minutes after revealing his decision at Machakos a crowd of 7,000 supporters ripped up their Kanu party cards and receipts. These supporters went wild with delight - and riot troops wore gas masks - in case they had to use tear gas - but luckily order was restored - and it was not necessary.
