Skeleton In Chains - Found In Devon Pit Is It Richard Swann - Missing Merchant? Experts are today examining remnants of clothing taken from the skeleton of a mystery man found chained in a pit at Yealmpton, Devon. The Devon County C.I.D. are now making and intensive probe on murder lines. Files on missing persons in the area are being probed - particular attention being paid to that of Richard Rhod Swann a wealthy tea merchant - of Ru~slip, Middlesex. Mr. Swann disappeared from Bruce Hayes Cottage, Stocklan~, near Honiton - in 1947. The cottage is about 50 miles from the 8ft. deep pit in which the skeleton was found. In June last year Mrs. Kathleen Swann was granted leave to assume he wasdead. Later she married Mr. Feliks Marek an ex-fighter pilot. Photo shows Richard Rhod Swann - the missing man. Is he the skeleton found in the Devon pit?
