Sophie, London Zoo's newest Giraffe appears live for the first time.: Sophie, London Zoo's newest giraffe appeared live for the first time today. It was Sophies first live appearance because up to now she has been starring in her own television programme. London Zoo officials kept a close watch on Sophie and her mother via a closed circuit television system, which was also on view to the public. Today, Sophie, who was born on May 2nd, went on show to the public inside her house. Still keeping a close watch on her is Virginia, Sophie's mother, who was the last giraffe to be born at London Zoo in June 1968.
