Duchess Helps Spastic Children With Riding Instruct... The Duchess of Norfolk, herself a keen horsewoman is giving a tremendous boost to disabled children by helping them to learn to ride. Once or twice a week the Duchess calls in at the riding stables of Brigadier J.R. Allen, a few miles from Arundel home to help spastic children from Worthing, Arundel and Littlehampton in their horse riding venture. It was at the suggestion of the Duchess of Norfolk that these riding classes were started and she supplied riding clothes and equipment to enable these children to benefit from these exercise which is of tremendous help both physically and mentally to spastics. Unable to move under their own volition many of them discover the freedom of movement the first time when astride a horses. Andrew Webb (8) has his chin strap fastened by the Duchess of Norfolk, supporting him are his mother and (right) Miss McClean, physiotherapist.
