Channel Ship Saved Man From Drifting Boat... He Wants To Go To Russia.. Aleksander Mahdenko a 33 year old Ukrainian was picked up in Mid Channel yesterday from a 5 ft. dinghy which was drifting helplessly. He said he started out from Dover after hitch - hiking from London. He said he was fed-up with England because he could not get a job - and hoped to get to Russia Via Switzerland and the Red Cross.
