Mrs. Allen was sentenced at Winchester Assizes at the close of her second trial on five charges of fraudulent converting ~2,065 from the ~25,000 the first in which the Jury was unable to agree. Mrs. Allen claimed that Mrs. Norman was not entitled to the fund saying that she was illegitimate.. wild extravagance was Mrs. Allen's downfall- causing her to be reduced from a life of Luxury to a mean existence in a tiny flat - and finally to prison.
