Countess Mountbatten launches replica of "Susan Constant".: A replica (which will never sail) of the 'Susan Constant', one of the vessels which landed at Jamestown in 1607, and which will play a leading part in this year's Woolwich Searchlight Tattoo, when the Jamestown landing will be re-enacted, was 'launched' outside Woolwich Town Hall today by Countess Mountbatten. A bottle of River James water, especially flown over by the U.S. Air Force,w as smashed across the bows of the vessel. Photo shows Lt. Gordon Smith, R.A., of Reading (left), who plays the part of the Captain of the 'Susan Constant', introduces his crew to Countess Mountbatten this afternoon.
