Crown copyright reserved: American Midshipmen visit home of first sea Lord: The highlight of U.S midshipmen's training cruise in northern waters, was visit of a party of fifty of the midshipmen to the country residence of the First Sea Lord (Admiral the Earl Mountbatten of Burma, K.G.,) Broadlands, Romsay, Hants., In all about 3,000 midshipmen in more than twenty U.S. warships took part in the cruise, and the party visiting broadlands was a cross-section of those in the ships and also cross-section of young men of college age in the United States. The Midhshipmen were from the U.S Naval Academy, Annapolis, and members of the Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps from Several civilian colleges. Sevenm of the visiting warships, including the battleship New Jersey visited to Portsmouth; four, including the crusier Des Moines, went to Phymouth; three, including the crusier Columbus, were at Torquay, and one went to sheerness. The visit to British Ports concluded early this week when the ships sailed to carry out a final exercise period in Cuban waters, before returning to the United States. Photo shows A Cup of British tea was popular with midhsipmen during their visit to Broadlands, The First Sea Lord is seen assisting his guests.
