Resumption Of Indo-Pakistan Passenger Train Service: For the first time since the partition of the sub-continent of India, the Amritsar-Lahore rail line was opened for passenger traffic on October 28th. The first passenger train between India and Pakistan crossed the border at 12.30 p.m. The inaugeral train carried Mr. Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Pakistan High Commissioner in India, and Mr. N.V. Rac, Deputy Indian High Commissioner at Lahore. Photo shows Mr. Ghazanfar Ali Khan (extreme left), going by motor trolley to libre to meet the outgoing passengers travelling by the first Amritsar-bound train. Seated next to him are, Maj. Gen. Abdur Rahman, Deputy High Commissioner for Pakistan at Julludur, India, and Mr. C.E. Mahmood, Divisional Superintendent, North-Western Railway.
