Belgium, the secretary general of NATO is chairman of the Council, the highest authority of the Alliance, which meets at ministerial level at least twice a year. At least once a week the council meets at the level of Permanent representatives (Ambassadors) thus ensuring continuous consultations between the 15 member governments on all matters of concern to the Alliance.
