Description
London's tallest office block -under construction twenty five story construction at South Bank: Work is now well in progress on the new Shell Building - London's tallest office block on South bank.. It will be new London headquarters of the Shell Oil Company. Construction of the 25 storey building is said to be remarkable for its accuracy - being only one quarter of an inch out of plumb, whereas it is quite usual for the top storey of high buildings to be as much as three inches out.. The accuracy is explained by the fact that all the steel columns were rested before erection.. The main clock will be about 338ft, high - which is twenty feet higher than Big Ben. Although no official estimation has been given regarding cost of teh new construction - it is believed to be in the region of £30,000,000..
