Newest Aircraft Carrier Over To Royal Navy Fold-Away Bunks In Place Of Hammocks: The new aircraft carrier H.M.S. Hermes was handed over o the Royal Navy today - after full steaming trials in the English Channel. She is to be fitted with the finest operational equipment of any aircraft carrier in any navy - and will inclu Fire streak air-to-air missiles. The vessel will be 741 ft, and has accommodation for 189 officers and 1,643 ratings.
