Peter Jay the new British Ambassador to Washington: Mr. Peter Jay, 40, who is married to the daughter of the Prime Minister Jim Callaghan, Margaret, has been named as our next Ambassador to Washington. The Appointment was announced by Dr. David Owen, the Foreign Secretary, last night. And the decision has brought angry reactions from all parties in the House of Commons and diplomats. Mr. jay is a regular television commentator and Economics Editor at the Time Newspaper. Dr. David Owen himself, at 38, became the youngest man for more than 30 years to be Foreign Secretary said "This was my decision to appoint Mr. Jay, he is one of the most able people in my generation".
