Firemen Show How Froth Fights Fires: A Curtain of foam shoes up into the sky as firemen demonstrate the latest fire frighting techniques. Firemen tried out their new piece of equipment at the Total Oil depot at Langley, It is a 1,000-gallon foam-making tanker, which will be used to fight aircraft fires, and blazes involving highly inflammable liquids. The tanker started off as a 2,000-gallon Total Oil Tanker. But it was bought by Buckinghamshire Fire Brigade and covered into a foam wagon, capable of making 125,000 gallons of foam in 25 minutes. The foam compound, a soap based mixtures of animal protein, including blood, is mixed under pressure with water, and is capable of something a blaze within seconds. And at a Pressure of 180lbs per square inch, the special hoses can shoot the foam liquid 70 feet into the air. The new tanker will be based at Langley fire station and has a two-man crew.
