Scotland Yard faces new wave of Crime; latest pictures of the yard at work; A new wave of crime is sweeping over the country, bringing with it some of the most sensational and unpredicted cases in the annals of criminal history. Fantastio bank and Jewel raids, Fraudulent business deals involving millions of pounds, controversial cases like Marwookd and Podola and of course ,Alfred Hinds still at large. New Scotland Yard, Headquarters of the Metropolitan Police since 1891 and monument of criminal detection, has never been so busy. Its shoulders rests the investigation of crimes not only in Great Britain but the world as well, through interpool which deals with the major international rackets. These are the latest photograph of the yard at work. and shows aspects of the information room opened at the beginning of 1957. Here incidents within an area of 742 square miles - Metropolitan and City district of London are reported through the million calls received each year. A two way radio televised system sees to the needs of a population of nearly 9 million. In the fingerprint files, 1,350,000 sets of fingerprints are cataloged for ready reference.
