No Sculptor Win the TUC's Big Money.
Sculptors' entries for a competition run by the T.U.C. were not good enough for the top prizes - two of $1,000, one of $500 and of $250, it was announced yesterday. Artists were asked to submit ideas for two pieces at the new TUC headquarters, going up in Bloomsbury. One world was to represent the sacrifices of trade unionists in two wars; the other to symbolise the trade union movement.
Six competitors - "commanded" - were awarded $50 each.
