Cheers with Cheese Ancient ceremony at Royal Hospital - Chelsea: The ceremony of the Christmas Cheeses'' was held yesterday at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea at which nine large cheeses were cut up and distributed to the Chelsea Pensioners - in honour of a 17th Century cheesemonger whose name has long since been forgotten but who supplied cheese to Londoners at 3d. per Lb. in 1691. Photo shows Seventy nine year old Colour Sgt. Jim Wood of Cheshire tucking into a portion of Cheese and ale at the Royal Hospital Chelsea yesterday.
