Description
The supposed murderers of two brothers gunned down in a jewel robbery were arrested by the "Carabinieri". On the 17th of January the brothers Gabriele and Silvano Menegazzo, 19 and 23, jewellery salesman for their father's firm, were gunned down in the street in front of their home and robbed of two vaults containing some $90,000 in jewellery. Their father watched the murders from the balcony of the apartment on Via Gatteschi. The gunmen escaped by car. Police throughout Italy launched the biggest hunt in decade for the gunmen, one of them tentatively identified by eye-witness as wanted robber Leonardo Cimino, who shot and wounded two bank clerks in a similar robbery last August. The Cimino's accomplice was the director Franco Torregiani. A friend of Cimino and Torregiani, Mario Loria, was arrested together with them.
