1966 Press Photo Clara Quien Sculptor With Bust President Nyerere Tanzania

British born sculptress completes bust of President Nyerere.: The well known British-born sculptress, Mrs. Clara Quien (she was born in Bromley, Kent), has just completed a slightly larger-than-life size bust of President Nyerere of Tanzania. the bust is being taken to Italy where several replicas will be made in bronze. Mrs. Quien completed the bust in seven sitings, each lasting an hour, with President Nyerere, at State House, Dar es Salaam. The bronze bust will be sold and the money used for charitable purposes. Now in her fifties, Mrs. Quien started modelling in Chihna at the age of two. She has also sculptured India M Gandhi, Pandit Naharu and his daughter Indira (now the Prime Minister), Lord Mountbatten and many others which include rhe Shah of Persia. Photo shows Mrs. Clara Quien carrying the plaster bust of President Nyerere after completing it, in Dar es Salaam.
