Chancellor Healey Wins Labour Backing For The Defence Of Sterling: Mr. Denis Healey, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, faced left-wing critics at the Labour Party annual conference in Blackpool yesterday with a blunt defence of the Government's economic strategy and measures taken this week to support the pound. After he had cut-shouted the jeers of the Left-wing, the Chancellor, who had flown to Blackpool to make an impassioned, who had flown to Blackpool to make an impassioned demand to the party for loyalty in his defence of sterling, won the majority support.
