Picture Feature - The 1960 Federal Census In every major city in the United States, starting April 1st, 1960, Census enumerators wearing official identification credentials and carrying portfolios will fan out in their areas to count the population and gather vital statistics. Each Census crew headed by a group leader will be responsible for a given area. Census employees preview the scene which will take place in the 437 Congressional Districts showing the enumerators leaving their headquarters to cover their assignment.
