81-year old Headmaster is praised by Education Ministry.: An 81-yearl old headmaster was the anonymous teacher picked out yesterday in the Ministry of Education's 1958 report for his "virtuoso performance", his "very thorough and valuable work" being carried out in difficult circumstances. He is 81 year old Mr. John Gardiner who runs a private school with 42 pupils at Guildford, Surrey. Mr. Gardiner started teaching nearly 70 years ago. Photo shows Mr.John Gardiner coaches some of his pupils to cricket - in the park yesterday.
