Description
Spanish Cargo Vessel Rams London Bridge: Thousands of homeward bound City workers stopped on their way home this evening to each efforts to refloat the 487 feet Spanish cargo vessel "Monte Uriquiola" (7,723-tons) which jammed one of the South Bank buttresses of London Bridge as she was staring out on a 14 days round cruise to the Canary Islands. The ship was preparing to leave her berth and had cast off when the wind and the incoming tide slowed her round and brought her broadside against the bridge. Six tugs had lines to the vessel to keep her from dashing against the bridge. Photo shows a view of the Spanish cargo vessel lying alongside the London Bridge this evening after the collision.

Photo measures 8 x 10 inches.

Photo is dated 1-27-1954.
