Ancient Ceremony of Rendering of Quit Rents at the Law Courts. The ancient ceremony of the rendering of Quit Rents to the Crown took place today at the Law Courts. The rents are in respect of a piece of waste ground called the Meers in Shropshire (rent two chopped faggets) and a tenement called the Forge, situated near St. Clement Dane's Church, Strand (rent six large horseshoes and sixty one nails) which is paid by the City Solicitor, Mr. Desmond Heap to the Queen's Remembrancer. Keystone Photo Shows: The City Solicitor, Mr. Desmond Heap, counting the six horseshoes and 61 nails - watched by the Queen's Remembrancer (Anthony Harwood, Esq., Senior Master of the Supreme Court).
