Air-Force Of The Future. Co-Education Comes To The Services: Join up and meet the girls - this looks like being the Air Force of the future. For at the ~urby Officer Training Unit on the Isle of man men and girls are training together for the first time in the history of the Air Force. They share the same lectures, study together, eat and spend their leisure together. The girls take exactly the same courses as the 36 men, but route marches and drill are modified to their feminine capacity. Of the 38 girls who arrived at the previously all-male unit, 14 are juniors who have just started training, the rest are senior cadets who have already received basic training and are now working with the men. A big break with tradition this, but high-ranking officials at the Air-Ministry are confident that this "co-ed" Air Force experiment will be a sure-fire success.
