World Population Conference Meeting At Bucharest 19-30 August, Approves plan of action stressing need for development: A world population Plan of Action, containing recommendations and guidelines aimed at "a better quality of life and rapid socio-economic development" for all people, was adopted by the UN World Population Conference held in Eucharest, Romania, from 19 to 30 August. The Plan of Action contains recommendations and statements of principles on population and socio-economic policies, promotion of the status of women, the family, improvement of health services, urbanization, internal and international migration, research and education. Delegates of 136 countries attended the conference, which was convened by the economic and Social Council. George Macovascu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Romania and head of the delegation of the host country, was elected by acclamation as President of the conference. A general view of the lecture given by John D. Rockefeller 3rd: "Population Growth: the Role of the Developed World".
