Realisation of an Ambition... Ernie Lyne, from Ashford, Kent always wanted to be an engineer, but instead he ended up in his family butchery. But the desire to be creative was still with him, so he sat about building a scale model traction engine. Christened "Pamela" it is two feet in height and weighs just over one cwt, and took Ernie 25 years to complete. It goes everywhere with him and has its own place in the boot of his car. Picture shows: Mr. Ernie Lyne with his scale model traction engine "Pamela" in the garden of his Ashford, Kent home.
