1965 Press Photo John Wagner in Fireman's Custody

Rooftop Man Defies Police. Police and fireman were this afternoon defied by a man, armed with a knife and a stick, from the roof of a terraced house in Church road, Manor Park. A crowd which gathered below were pelted with tiles which he had priced from the roof. The man, 30 year old John Wagner was eventually persuaded to come down by two men. Photo shows John Wagner in centre, is brought down a fireman's ladder by two men who persuaded him to come off the roof. One of the men is holding the knife Wagner surrendered to him.
