London Artist Paints For "Golden Hinde": An usual commission for artist Peter Wood, of Barnes, London, in this painstaking copy of a 16th century portrait of Queen Elizabeth I. executed as one of a series for the Great Cabin in the full-size replica of Drake's Golden Hinde. The replica, currently open to the public near the Tower of London, will also carry two portraits of King Philip of Spain and Drake himself, executed by the same artist, on her 6-month voyage to San Francisco, due to begin this autumn.
