1953 Press Photo State opera house in Berlin

That's their civilization! The festival held at the occasion of the completion of the former state opera Unter den Linden in Eastern Berlin was made a "demonstration of the peace will of the workers". A large wreath was hoisted with minister for public education and worship Paul Wandel present. And then 1600 workers marched to the now state opera in the former Admirals Palace where they had a festival.
