"Little Chequers" - Used By The Foreign Secretary."Dorneywood" Near Burnham Beeches: The first official occupants of "Little Chequers" - the name given to "Dorneywood", the 43 room Queen Anne Mansion left by the late Lord Courtauld- Thomson to the nation - is Sir Anthony Eden the Foreign Secretary and Lady Eden. Dorneywood is a country house standing in 200 acres of land near Burnham Beeches, Bucks and was left to the nation as a "Lesser Chequers" for the Prime Minister of a Minister of the Crown. The house of just as Lord Courtauld-Thomson left it - and furnished mainly by 18th, century furniture - with several collectors' pieces of Chippendale. Photo shows View of Dorneywood, near Burnham Beeches - Bucks - the new "Lesser Chequers".
