Description
Parkhurst wives in protest.: Mrs. Irene Wisby, wife of one of the Great Train Robbers, went to the House of Commons this afternoon with other wives of Parkhust prisoners to protest about the Home Office rule which says relatives of Category "A" prisoners must show passport-style photographs. Mrs. Wisbey said: "What we are afraid of is that these photographs will be used by the police to build up a dossier on the relatives of the prisoners. "Our men have told the Home Office what they don't mind their wives showing their own photographs, but apparently the prison authorities say no". About 30 wives of long-term Parkhurst prisoners and their children, carrying placards saying 'I want to see my daddy', gathered outside the Commons. They aimed to lobby MPs and demand an inquiry into conditions at Parkhurst where 33 prison officers and 22 prisoners were injured in a riot last month. Photo shows with a protest banner outside the House of Commons is Mrs. Olvie Bond, on left, and Mrs. Dorothy Gold, on right.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.

Photo is dated 11-11-1969.
