Operation Lifeline: Several air and sea landings have been made in South Wales in the huge operation called Exercise Lifeline. A total of 10,000 men from all three services are testing Britain's ability to rush fire brigade units of the Strategie Reserve to any trouble spot. Photo shows this was the scene yesterday during the landing mounted from the Navy's new assault ship Fearless showing men and vehicles coming ashore on the coast near Pambrokeshire yesterday.
