Description
India observes seventh anniversary of Martyrdom of Gandhi: India observes seventh anniversary of Martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi, on January 30. From this year, this day would also be observed as martyrdom for all those who gave their lives to attain freedom. Till last year, people would go to "Rajghat" (where Gandhi was cremated) and offer flowers to pay homage to the Father of the Nation, but this year a change has beenintroduced in mode of observance of martyrdom. This year, Indian army troops were stationed at the Rajghat, who reversed the arms, after the sounding the Last Post, and stood in silence for two minutes. A gun was fired at 11a.m. everything moving was stopped for two minutes all over the country. Photo shows Indian Army troops positioned at Rajghat to salute all martyrs who gave their lives for India's freedom, standing in silence, with arms reversed, for two minutes. In the right background can be seen the buglers sounding the Last Post. Farther in the extreme right behind the buglers, can be seen one of the ancient mosques in the city.
