India observes seventh anniversary of Martyrdom of Gandhi: India observes seventh anniversary of Martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi, on January 30. From this year, this day would also be observed as martyrdom for all those who gave their lives to attain freedom. Till last year, people would go to "Rajghat" (where Gandhi was cremated) and offer flowers to pay homage to the Father of the Nation, but this year a change has beenintroduced in mode of observance of martyrdom. A gun was fired at 11a.m. everything moving was stopped for two minutes all over the country.
