Description
Greek taxi-drivers clash with Police during demonstrations in Athens: 500 Greek taxi-drivers escorted by their wives clashed with police during demonstrations in front of the Parliament in Athens. The drivers were protesting against the Prime Minister, Mr. Papandreou, who was refused to permit the issue of additional licenses for taxi drivers, since the existing number is much bigger than it should be. Sixteen policemen and fifteen of the demonstrators were injured, and 24 were arrested. Photo shows one of the drivers wives is carried away after being knocked down during a baton charge by the police in Athens.

Photo measures 10.25 x 8 inches.

Photo is dated 2-27-1965.
