Description
Mock attack on Gibraltar: Gibraltar, Royal Irish Rangers (2nd Batt), running across the windmill flats here yesterday, take part in the defence of Gibraltar (rock seen in background), during exercise code-named "Rock Climb". During the exercise, Marine Commandos staged a helicopter borne assault on Gibraltar from the Commando Carrier Bulwark (23,300 tons). The mock attack was a British production to see how successful an enemy equipped with modern arms might be in attack on the impregnable rock fortress
