Military Discipline for Boy of the Reper Brigade . Mr. R.A. Butler the Home Secretary believes that discipline of the Army style - plus - is the answer to the constantly growing problem of the young rebel. Punishment on a short - term basis, administored in machins-like methods withmore than a touch of humanity at heart. This type of punishment - training is practiced at Blantyre House, Goudhurst, Kent - the only senior detention centre of its kind in the South of England. Seventy seven men, 17 - 21 years of age are serving an average of three months for a variety of offences, such as breach of probation and car stealing. They get up at 6a.m. and spend the day scrubbing - polishing - diggin - making wire fending - or doing P.T. all the time at full pace. They go to bed at 9 p.m.and throughout the whole day have only half an hour in which to talk privately with each other - although talking is not forbidden at mealtime. This type of centre is proving successful - and more are expected to be opened to deal with the 'young rebel' problem. Photo Shows Marching in true military style are boys of the rebel brigade - at Blantyre House.
